Introducing Plamen Petrov, Software Team Manager for Experian Data Quality. Plamen shares his experience as an Experian Creator and what his position entails.

Experian is one of the world leaders in big data, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning, what are you learning and what projects are currently working on?

In teams I manage within Experian Data Quality, we build and integrate industry-leading address and email validation products. We develop and perfect complex matching algorithms that generate results with a high degree of accuracy and speed. As for current projects — there is always something exciting we develop around here, and we’re constantly on the lookout for improvement and innovation. Lately, with the address validation team, we’ve been busy evaluating and applying the latest tools and approaches in the field of Machine Learning.

What is the most significant part of your job?

As a team manager, my mission has always been to manage the environment to a state that naturally favors autonomous, agile teams that achieve their goals. This is hard to accomplish without brilliant professionals, so I’d say my work is mostly about people. I’m very involved in their coaching, mentoring, development, building, and executing our overall team vision. Building relationships and managing change are also significant parts of what I’m doing.

What sets Experian apart from other companies?

For those on the fence, I’d share that Experian does tend to attract top talent. Every professional would agree that working with amazing people always brings joy and satisfaction, and I’ve met some of the greatest minds in my career while working here. Having a ton of opportunities to grow and exciting challenges to solve is also great.

Do you have any advice for current and future tech professionals you would like to share?

Consider actively developing your brand. It is all in your hands! Action and inaction build your reputation. With that in mind, staying hungry for knowledge and true to my commitments has proven to work for me.
