Meet Kathy Stuhr.

We spoke with Kathy, Sr. Scrum Master, to learn more about her 33-year career journey with Experian, what sets us apart as an employer, and Experian’s Agile framework.

Tell us your story and career journey that led to your current role.

I’ve been with Experian for 33 years. I’ve had many roles across different business units that have led me to my current position. My ability to develop new skills, be coachable, be a team player and be able to adapt to an ever-changing environment has allowed me to grow into my current position of Scrum Master / IT Project Mgr, Expert.

What is the most exciting part of your role?

Working with people who are eager to learn and grow. I enjoy helping teams achieve their goals by creating the right environment, helping break down roadblocks, strategizing improvement plans, and coaching them on how to become a self-managing team.

What makes Experian stand out from other tech companies?

What makes Experian stand out is its people. Experian is comprised of great people who are intelligent, collaborative, and willing to go the extra mile. In addition, Experian is always changing and finding better ways of getting things done which leads to new opportunities to learn and grow.

How has Experian’s Agile transformation impacted your role and experience?

Although in many aspects we have always worked in a team environment, the Agile transformation has put a brighter spotlight on it. I believe the Agile framework is what has made Experian come through strong during this pandemic. The daily stand-up meetings have allowed my teams (and all Agile teams) to come together to plan, check progress, and tackle roadblocks on a daily basis. Without these meetings during the pandemic, I think team members would have felt isolated and unsupported and ultimately this would have shown up in our bottom line.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self?

My advice would be ‘don’t sweat the small stuff’. But also, although my younger self knew this, it’s nice-looking back and knowing that striving to learn new things, going the extra mile, and being relentless in my follow up and follow through has benefitted me in the long run.
