Meet Hernando Salazar, Chief Information Officer of Experian Spanish Latam, and this week’s featured #ExperianCreator
What led you to a career in the tech space?
When I was at High School (a long time ago), I noticed that technology was going to be an important field of work to help and improve people´s lives, and an industry in continuous evolution and growth, challenging me to learn new things every day, that led me to decide studying electronic engineering.
Tell us your story and career journey that led to your current role as CIO of Experian Spanish LATAM.
I joined Experian on July 1st, 2020, after having worked in the telecommunications industry for more than 30 years previously. What excited me to move to Experian was to be in a fully data-oriented company, with a global footprint and regional operations. Having many things for me to learn by changing to another industry was also something that attracted me to do the change.
What makes Experian stand out from other tech companies?
I believe is a combination of customer orientation (technology at the service of the customer), security as a value, great teamwork, and an incomparable working environment (human beings and employee first — Great Place to Work).
What career advice would you give to your younger self?
Expand your mindset to a broader one, learning from people of different cultures and professions.
