Meet Stefka Mavrodieva, Software Team Manager based out of Experian Bulgaria. Stefka shares with us what her role looks like managing a team and various projects, as well as how Experian’s culture stands out in the industry.
Experian is one of the world leaders in big data, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning, what are you learning right now, and what cool projects are currently working on?
I’m leading the largest Engineering Group in Experian Global Software organization. We are accountable to deliver Debt management software — Collections which in times of a global recession is crucial for our clients. This includes our Cloud proposition Early Collections that works on our cloud-based platform ExerianOne. It’s very exciting to be part of the Cloud-first journey and empower opportunities to help ambitious business grow. We leverage the best in class technologies and with the right mindset and agility drive successful outcomes.
What is the most significant part of your job?
Every day I spend the first hour looking through my mail and making sure each time-sensitive inquiry is addressed by me personally or my team. The rest of the day is mostly spent in meetings and calls making sure our projects go according to plan and we deliver according to our commitments.
With my team, we’re very focused on continuous improvement — including processes and people development to ensure engineering excellence and customer success. Our goal is to reduce the time it takes us to make value available to customers and this includes good design and strong focus on technical excellence, frequent and quality software deliveries, maintaining simplicity, team empowerment and autonomy, self-organization within the Scrum teams and constant reflection on how to become more effective and efficient.
I make sure I have regular one-on-ones with my team as the constant feedback is something I consider crucial for people’s development individually and as part of my team.
The variety is something that I like, it breaks the routine and makes me stay vigilant. On top of my day-to-day responsibilities, I am leading the Global Diversity & Inclusion forum, promoting wider diversity and inclusive culture across the organization.
