Meet Ravi Devesetti, Chief Technology Officer of Experian Consumer Information Services, and this week’s featured #CreatorOfExperian!

Tell us your story.

I am a leader who is passionate about people: attracting talent, investing in them, and building global teams that can develop highly scalable platforms and customer-centric products. All this helps us achieve the ultimate goal: engineering excellence.

As far as my career goes, just last week I celebrated my four-year anniversary at Experian. Prior to that, I spent twelve years at PayPal and eight years at Netscape.

What are some of your past and current projects?

One of our greatest feats has been able to influence the successful transformation journey of modernizing core Experian Platform. We did this by building Big Data Systems that handle millions of jobs, billions of transactions, and petabytes of data, all in the cloud.

1. Ascend Big Data Platform

2. API hub

3. NIKE Modernization Platform

4. Boost

• Key Engineering Excellence Pillars that helped to make this happen:

1. Products — Faster “time to market” is very critical for building innovative products. The ability to bring down release cycles from every 2 months to every week.

2. Process — Changing the product development to fully agile; using DevSecOps, SRE, and automation

3. Platform — Building the platform-oriented approach to create once and reuse

4. Partnership — Cross-functional collaboration is critical in winning

5. People — Investing in people and building learning culture

What makes Experian different from other tech companies?

I go back to talking about the people; Experian has some of the most amazing people I’ve worked with. This creates a culture of learning, opportunities to build innovative products, hackathons, and lots of wonderful resources for employees. It’s a thriving, safe culture while continuously changing to improve and raise the bar.
